The "Tudors"
( 1483 - 1603 AD )

The medieval period came to an end with the death of Richard III at Bosworth in 1485 and Henry VII soon laid the grounds of the powerful Tudor State.

Prince Hal (later Henry VIII) was made Ranger of Woolmer and is alleged to have been at Lode Farm in Kingsley when he first heard of his father's death in 1508. Henry VIII's break with Rome had a major impact on the power of the church and led to the dissolution of the monasteries (1536-40).
